Introduction

The one-of-its-kind UN Memorial Cemetery was officially selected for one of the VIP visiting spots during the APEC Summit held in Busan in 2005. However, the South part of the park, 677-3 Daeyeon-dong area, was full of 51 noisy and soil pollution-causing companies such as scrap disposal companies, vehicle repair and maintenance shops, freight transport companies and truck parking spaces. Hence, the peace park has been developed in honor of those defending freedom in connection with the UN Memorial Cemetery while improving the citizens’ quality of life.
