The UN Peace Memorial Hall was established to honor the services and noble sacrifices of UN soldiers who died during the Korean War, and to promote relevant projects for world peace.

The hall showcases the UN’s activities, which are inherited and developed from the noble spirit of sacrifice, and promotes freedom and peace yearned by all countries in the world. As a private entity of the Special UN Peace and Culture Zone project, the UN Peace Memorial Hall has initiated various peace projects such as its internationalized education program, exchange program with the veterans, and support for international cooperation.

Through the projects, Busan will be viewed as the center of world peace that initiates a nongovernmental and unofficial form of diplomatic activity with the UN, while the peacekeeping spirit of the UN will remain to thrive.

The Republic of Korea has overcome the devastation and pain of war, and accomplished its prosperity today owing to the noble sacrifice of UN soldiers. The gratitude for the veterans who sacrificed their own well-being for a foreign country should be treated equally to the level of our country’s prosperity, if not higher.

However, it has been over 70 years since the Korea War. The pain of the tragic memories has been fading while our descendants only understand the war as a subject found in textbooks. The UN Peace Memorial Hall was built for the purpose of educating our descendants, who did not experience the reality of war, to understand the weight of armistice and the horrors of war, while honoring the fallen and conveying unbiased appreciation to the veterans. Accordingly, we plan to pursue commemorative projects including data research, organizing exhibitions and publishing in order to honor UN soldiers. Furthermore, we will initiate various cultural and educational activities to broaden the solidarity of peace in order to inherit and develop the sacrifice and commitment for peace-keeping.

In addition, we endeavor to promote the UN Peace Memorial Hall, along with the world's one-and-only UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea and the Special UN Peace and Culture Zone, to become an international attraction that represents world peace. Through this hall, we will help the youth in our country to obtain global competitiveness and endure the resolutions of the UN for world peace.

In summary, as a cornerstone, the UN Peace Memorial Hall will consistently promote the site of the one-of-its-kind UN Memorial Cemetery and emphasize the effort to keep the world peace while supporting the UN’s numerous activities for the well-being of humankind.
